Classic Spanish Tuna Sandwich | Possibly the BEST Tuna Sandwich Recipe
Spain is famously known for their delicious Bocadillos, which are basically the Spanish version of a sandwich, and this Classic Spanish Tuna Sandwich is one of the very best. It´s got a ton of great flavors & textures, it´s easy to make and all done within minutes.
There are many different versions of this classic sandwich in Spain. This version is inspired from the beautiful tapas bar of Central Bar, which is located in the Mercado Central de Valencia. Where they are known for making some of the best Bocadillos in all of Spain.
The secret to this sandwich is 2 key ingredients. The first one is the bread, make sure to use a crunchy baguette. The second one, use some Spanish tuna in olive oil (10% OFF Your Order with Coupon ONAFORK), as it makes all the difference in the flavor.
TIPS & TRICKS to Make this Recipe: You can prep these sandwiches ahead of time. Just wrap them in seran wrap and add into the fridge. They will hold for up to 4 to 5 days.

Classic Spanish Tuna Sandwich
Ingredients
- 1 baguette
- 2 cans tuna in olive oil 4 oz / 110 grams each
- 1 tomato
- 1/2 red onion
- 10 black pitted olives
- 1/2 cucumber
- 4 leaves green lettuce
- 1/2 cup low fat mayonnaise 120 grams
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tsp lemon juice 5 ml
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 15 ml
- pinch sea salt
- dash black pepper
Instructions

Drain the cans of tuna into a fine sieve with a bowl underneath, gently flake the tuna and set aside

Thinly slice the tomato, red onion, black olives, cucumber and wash & pat dry the leaves of lettuce

To make the garlic mayo aioli, add the mayonnaise into a bowl, finely grate in the garlic, add in the lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil and season with sea salt & black pepper, whisk together until well mixed

Cut the baguette into two 6 inch (15 cm) pieces and then cut each one open

Add the lettuce in the bottom piece of the baguette, then the slices of tomato, season with sea salt & black pepper, then add in the tuna, black olives, red onion and cucumber, add a dollop of the garlic mayo aioli over the top piece of baguette, then place over the sandwich, enjoy!
