Fish with CREAMY Lemon-Garlic Sauce | Quick & EASY One-Pan Recipe
This Fish with Creamy Lemon-Garlic Sauce is what simple and delicious food is all about. We’re talking a ton of flavors, easy to make, and all done in about 20 minutes. Serve it next to some roasted potatoes, a garden salad, and a bottle of Spanish white wine from Alicante for a great meal.
To make this recipe, I used fish fillets I bought frozen and thawed out. You can also use fresh fish here if you prefer. I used cod, but you can use any other type of firm white fish. Such as tilapia, halibut, or hake, which is known as merluza in Spain.
To make the creamy lemon-garlic sauce, I used a combination of white wine, lemon juice, flour, and some herbs. If wine is not your thing, you can substitute it for any broth of your choice.
TIPS & TRICKS to Make this Recipe: It took me about 3 to 4 minutes per side to fully cook the pieces of fish. Of course, it might take you less or more. Just keep an eye on the fish to not overcook it. Otherwise, it can get a tough texture.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 60 ml
- 3 cod fillets 8 oz / 225 grams each
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour 60 grams
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1.50 grams
- 1/2 tsp onion powder 1.25 grams
- 6 cloves garlic (roughly chopped)
- 1 tsp all purpose flour 3 grams
- 1/2 cup dry white wine 120 ml
- 1 tbsp lemon juice 15 ml
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano .50 grams
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley 4 grams
- sea salt & black pepper
- lemon wedges & parsley for garnish
Instructions
-
Heat a large fry pan with a medium heat and add in the olive oil
-
In the meantime, add the cod fillets over some paper towels and pat dry, season with sea salt & black pepper on both sides, then cut each fillet into 2 evenly sized pieces for a total of 6 pieces of fish
-
Add the 1/2 cup flour into a bowl, along with the garlic powder and onion powder, mix together, then coat each piece of fish in the flour
-
Add the pieces of fish into the hot fry pan, fry for 3 to 4 minutes per side or until just cooked through, then remove from the pan and set aside
-
Using the same pan, lower to a low-medium heat, add in the chopped garlic, mix continuously, after 30 seconds add in the 1 tsp of flour, continue to mix together, after 1 minute add in the white wine, lemon juice, oregano, parsley and season with sea salt & black pepper, mix together and then simmer
-
Once the alcohol has been cooked off and you have a slightly creamy sauce, about 3 to 4 minutes, add the fish fillets back into the pan, gently give each one a flip so they're fully coated in the sauce, simmer for 1 minute, then remove from the heat
-
Transfer the fish fillets into serving dishes, top off with some of the creamy sauce and garnish with lemon wedges and chopped parsley, enjoy!
