Homemade Fried Mozzarella Patties with Marinara Sauce

– Homemade Fried Mozzarella Patties with Marinara Sauce –

What is it about fried mozzarella that just calls everyone´s name? For me, as a child mozzarella sticks where always a super treat to eat, they represented comfort food at its best. As the years passed by and I started to get into cooking, I realized it was time to start making my own fried mozzarella. Trying to always be innovative, I decided to make homemade mozzarella patties instead of the same old mozzarella sticks. As I was creating this recipe, I decided to go for fresh mozzarella instead of plain old regular mozzarella. Fresh mozzarella has a much better texture, it´s creamier, and in my opinion, a much better flavor, even though it is a very simple flavor. Now, most recipes for fried mozzarella call to freeze your sticks/patties for at least 1 hour before you fry them, I (like most other people) don´t have time to wait when I´m craving fried mozzarella. This recipe is a no-freeze recipe, that means from start to finish, this dish is done in under 30 minutes. • 1/4 Tsp Sea Salt
  • 2 Organic Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour

EXTRAS

  • 1/4 Cup Sunflower Oil for Frying

Instructions

  1. Begin by making the marinara sauce first, finely mince 2 cloves of garlic, then heat a small sauce pan with a medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of extra virgin Spanish olive oil, once the oil get´s hot, add the minced garlics, mix with the oil and cook for about 30 seconds, then add 1 cup of tomato puree, 1/2 teaspoon on dried parsley, 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1/4 teaspoon of white sugar, season with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, mix everything together and lower the fire to a LOW heat
  2. Add 1 cup of breadcrumbs to a bowl, season with a 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of dried parsley and a 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt and mix everything together
  3. Beat 2 organic eggs in a seperate bowl and add 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour to another bowl
  4. Grab 2 balls of fresh mozzarella and cut them into thin rounds that are about 1/8 of an inch in thickness
  5. Start coating each slice of mozzarella by dusting it in the flour first, then the egg and then the breadcrumbs, and then repeat the process for a double coating, do this with each slice of mozzarella
  6. Heat a non-stick frying pan with a medium-high heat and add a 1/4 cup of sunflower oil
  7. Once the oil get´s hot, cook each slice of mozzarella, without over-crowding the pan, cook each slice between 20-25 seconds per side, making sure not to burn them, and transfer to plate with paper towels
  8. Add the marinara sauce to a bowl and place on a plate, then decorate the fried mozzarella patties around the sauce bowl
  9. Enjoy!
