The BEST-EVER Salad with Strawberries & Manchego Cheese
We all know how great & healthy salads are for you, but sometimes they just kinda get boring. In this post, I will show you how to make The BEST-EVER Salad with Strawberries & Manchego Cheese. This is the next-level in salads.
Seriously folks, this salad brings excitement back to the table. We´re talking an explosion of flavors, super easy to make and ready to serve in just 15 minutes. The kind of salad you expect from a high-end restaurant, except you can easily make it at home and for much less 🙂 .
To make this salad I used an aged Manchego cheese. This mixed in with the strawberries is what gives this salad that amazing sweet & savory flavor. I also used a great extra virgin olive oil to make the dressing. The dressing is what flavors this whole deal, so make sure to use the BEST ingredients.
TIPS & TRICKS to make this Recipe: I used romaine lettuce, but you can use any lettuce that you like. Again, I used an aged Manchego cheese, but you can use any cheese you want. Just make sure it is aged and has a sharp and salty flavor. To make the dressing I used balsamic glaze, which is similar or the same thing as a balsamic reduction.
Key Ingredients & Cookware I used in this Recipe:
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
MANCHEGO CHEESE
SPANISH SEA SALT

The BEST-EVER Salad with Strawberries & Manchego Cheese
Ingredients
FOR THE SALAD
- 1 head romaine lettuce
- 1 small red onion
- 8 fresh strawberries
- 2 ounces manchego cheese 56 grams
- 10 walnuts
- pinch sea salt
- dash black pepper
FOR THE BALSAMIC DRESSING
- 1 tbsp glazed balsamic vinegar 16 grams
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard 15.79 grams
- 1 tbsp agave syrup 21 grams
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 40 grams / 33 ml
- pinch sea salt
- dash black pepper
Instructions
-
Remove the leaves from a head of romaine lettuce and stack them up, tightly roll the leaves together like a cigar, cut it right down the middle and into 1 inch pieces, add to a strainer and rinse under cold running water, dry the lettuce either with a salad spinner or dishcloth, add the cleaned dry lettuce into a large shallow bowl
-
Thinly slice 1 small red onion and add over the lettuce, wash & pat dry 8 fresh strawberries and cut into 1/4-inch thick slices, add the slices of strawberry into the salad, season everything with sea salt & black pepper
-
Add some thin shavings of Manchego cheese over the salad (I used a potato peeler) and crumble 10 walnuts over the salad
-
To make the dressing, add 1 tbsp balsamic glaze into a bowl, along with 1 tbsp dijon mustard and 1 tbsp agave syrup, lightly season with sea salt & black pepper, start whisking together and at the same time slowly add in 3 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil, once all the olive oil is incorporated and you end up with a creamy texture the dressing is done
-
Using a spoon drizzle some of the dressing over the salad and serve at once, enjoy!
