“Better than Deli” Mediterranean Tuna Melt Sandwich
This Mediterranean tuna melt sandwich is probably one of the best tuna sandwiches I have ever tasted. We’re talking a ton of great flavors, simple everyday ingredients, and all done within minutes. Serve it next to a handful of chips and a couple of ice-cold beers for the best moment of your day.
To make this recipe, I used canned tuna in olive oil from Spain. Considered to be one of the best canned tunas in the world. Of course, you can also use canned tuna in water if you prefer. But like I always tell you, in recipes that are this simple, the higher the quality of the ingredients, the better the overall flavor.
As for the bread, I used sourdough sandwich bread. But you can use whatever type of bread you like. For the cheese I used provolone, but mozzarella or even cheddar also work great.
TIPS & TRICKS to Make this Recipe: Important to use a nonstick frying pan. That way the bread doesn’t stick to the pan. I went for 3 to 4 minutes per side to end up with perfectly melted cheese and a crispy exterior. It may take you less or more. Just keep an eye on it so the bread doesn’t brown too much.
